Obit: --Killed By Lightning. --Mr. George Hackley, aged about eighteen years, son of James P. Hackley, residing on the road between this place and Fayette, was killed by lighting, last Sunday. He was in company with a young friend, in the watermelon patch, when struck. His hat and shoes were torn to pieces, but the skin on his body was not broken. The young man with him was thrown to the ground, but not seriously hurt. They were at the residence of John Kivett, five miles north of Fayette.

Obit: DIED---In this city on Sunday afternoon last, of Cholera Morbus, Mr. James W. Harris, Merchant of this place, in the 36th year of his age.
Mr. Harris was born in Burkley county, Va., in 1816, and emigrated to Missouri in 1834. He settled in this place about four years ago, and became extensively known as an enterprising Commision Merchant. On the morning of his death, he arrived at home, in company with part of his family, from a visit to St. Louis, and though complaining, walked up to his house; but soon after became violently ill; and such was the rapid progress and power of the disease, he expired about 3 o'clock. "In the midst of life we are in death."
Mr. Harris was in the prime of life, full of energy, and possessing many excellent qualities, had obtained the friendship of a large portion of the community. He leaves behind him a deeply afflicted wife and several children to mourn an irreparable loss.

Obit: Sarah Elizabeth Harris, 99, of Fayette died Oct. 9, 1982, at Columbia Heath Care.  Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Fayette City Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Quinn, pastor of Fayette First Baptist Church officiating.  Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Ralph A. Carr Funeral Home.  A longtime active member of the First Baptist Church, Mrs. Harris was born Aug. 27, 1883, in Howard County to Robert Brown and Nancy Shacklett Brown.  She married Robert A. Harris in April 1903, and he preceded her in death in June 1961.  Surviving are one son, James W. Harris of Columbia; three brothers, Jesse Brown of Garden City, Mo., Ben Brown of Crown Point, Ind., and Bryan Brown of Wichita, Kan.; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.  She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Hazel Berkebile and two sons, Earl Harris and Warren Harris.

Obit: DIED.--On the 25th ult., Mrs. Eliza Ann, wife of John Harvey, Esq., of this county, in the 34th year of her age.
Mrs. Harvey was a daughter of the late Levi Markland, of this county. As daughter, wife and mother, she ever discharged her whole duty. She leaves a stricken husband, several children, (youngest five days old at her death) and a large circle of acquaintances to sorrow over the summons that called her hence. May He who "tempers the wind to the shorn lamb," take the helpless orphans under His special care, and pour healing balm into the bosom of the bereaved husband.
