Obit: "September 25, 1924 - THOMAS MALCOLM LAMONS, 81, one of Howell County's most prominent pioneers died at the home of a niece, Mrs. J. Francis. He was a Union soldier, and was born 19 Feb 1843 in Morgan County, Alabama. He came to Howell County in 1858 with his father, Peter J. Lamons. In 1868 he wed Mary Ann Pool. He is survived by three sons, John, T.P., and Homer, two brothers and one sister. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery."

Obit: OILTON -- Graveside rites for Kenneth B. Lawhorn, 82, were Tuesday at Oilton Cemetery with the Rev. Allan Burns officiating.
Born in Missouri to Arthur and Mattie Lawhorn, he died at an Ada hospital.
Lawhorn moved to Oilton as a child and attended school there. He married Beatrice Morris on Aug. 3, 1935. Lawhorn moved to Illinois with Mobil Oil Company in 1939 and back to Sulphur in 1954. He lived in Sulphur the remainder of his life. He was a lease operator for Mobil Oil Company for 41 years. Lawhorn was a member of Sulphur Hills Golf Course and the Church of God.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; one son, Gary Lawhorn, Mill Creek; one brother, Richard Lawhorn, Stillwater; one sister, Dorothy Hitchcock, Oilton; three grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.

Obit: West Plains, Mo. - Terry L. Lucas, 33, of  West Plains, Mo., died Saturday, Sept. 14, 1996, of cancer.  Mr. Lucas was born April 4, 1963, in Bisbee, Ariz.  A 1981 graduate of Dexter High School, he was a Navy veteran and of the Baptist faith.  He was employed as an electronic technician with Stegman Business Services in West Plains.  An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a member of NRA.  He stayed active in his children's school and sports activities and also coached youth soccer.  On Nov. 6, 1983, he married Jean Carrell of  West Plains.  She survives.  Also surviving are two children, Kristina Lucas and Robert E. Lucas, both of the home; his parents, D. Terry and Dixie L. Lucas of Poplar Bluff; one brother, and sister-in-law, Michael G. and Karman Lucas of Poplar Bluff; two nephews, Joshua Lucas and Brennan Lucas, both of Poplar Bluff; his grandfather, Robert C. Hills of Indianapolis, Ind.; and two aunts, Jean Kramer of Arlington Heights, Ill., and Nancy Cook of Kirkwood, Mo.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Kathryn Hills, and Mr. and Mrs. Loren E. Lucas.  Visitation will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Robertson Drago Funeral Home in West Plains.  The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home chapel. 

Roy Nelson Lowe

Roy Nelson Lowe, 68, of Riceville, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 26, 2010.

A native of West Plains, Mo., and a lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late Roy and Alma Nelson Lowe, and was preceded in death by three sisters, Janet Gunter, Nancy Lowe and Mary Lowe. He was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church in Decatur and had owned Lowe's Roofing for more than 30 years.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Dean Bright Lowe of Riceville; four daughters and one son-in-law, Nancy Brewer of North Dakota, Christina Varner of Charleston, Susan Kirochoff of Washington State, and Cynthia and Terry Boyd of Riceville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gene and Patricia Lowe of Riceville, and David and Dawn Lowe of Athens; 26 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Pat and Jerry Johnson, Linda and Lloyd Young and Karen Hall, all of Missouri; two brothers, John and Larry Lowe, both of Missouri; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Harrison and Opal Bright of Riceville, Maggie Roberts of Athens, Virginia and Earl Roberts of Decatur, Linda and Ross Morrow and Calvin and Carolyn Bright, all of Riceville, and Gary and Teresa Bright of Athens; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He will be laid to rest at Stuart Union Cemetery, South Fork, Howell County, Missouri.
