Obit: Lee Eugene Duree, Sr. of Pilot Knob, MO passed away March 29, 2011 at the age of 89 years. He was born Nov. 4, 1921 in Pilot Knob, the son of John William and Frances Arnetta (Miller) Duree.
On June 28, 1941 he was united in marriage to Roberta Joyce Harbison, who survives. To this union four children were born: Sandra Edmonds of Cape Girardeau, Lee Duree, Jr. and his wife Kathy of Houston, TX, Sally Ann and husband Don SLover of Bonne Terre and Steven Duree of Cape Girardeau. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Eugene served his country in the United States Army during World War II, earning three bronze stars. He served his community as the Mayor of Pilot Knob and was instrumental in establishing the Pilot Knob Fire Department and the rural water department. He also served on the school boards for the Pilot Knob School and later Arcadia Valley Schools.
Graveside services will be held on April 2, 2011 at Arcadia Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Donald Slover officiating. Memorials may be made to the Iron County Hospital.
