Lula J. Allen, 85, formerly of Carthage, passed away at 6:45 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2008, in Radford, Va.
She was born on Dec. 29, 1922, in Williamson, W.Va. and was the daughter of the late Dewey and Virgie Wright.

Lula was employed at the former Safeway cheese in Carthage for several years.
Lula married Clarence Webster on Aug. 31, 1963, in Rockford, Ill.; he preceded her in death on Oct. 6, 1976.
Survivors include one son, Gary L. Lewis of Joplin, one daughter, Betty Sue Gillman of Redford, Va., two sisters, Donna Zentz of Rockford, Il., and Shirley Gelhaus of Appleton, Wis., five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and  three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2008, at the Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel, visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 prior to the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel.

Obit: Virginia May Aleshire, 77, of Sarcoxie, died at 3:35 p.m. April 6, 2008 at her home.

Mrs. Aleshire was born June 30, 1930. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church of Mt. Vernon.

She married Richard Elroy Aleshire on March 21, 1947, in Columbus, Kansas, and he survives.

Additional survivors include one daughter, Lynn Misemer of Mt. Vernon; one son, Mark Aleshire of Sarcoxie; one brother, Joe Johnson of Neosho; five
grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Carolyn Aleshire and Margaret.

Services will be 10 a.m. tomorrow, April 9, at the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon with Rev. Chris Snyder, Rev. Jim Crooks, and Rev. Jane Crooks officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Stotts City.Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today, April 8, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the church.
