Obit: Bobby Gene Hinshaw, age 79, of Texas Creek, Colorado, formerly of Joplin, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2008 at 6:30 a.m. in Kindred Hospital in Denver, Colorado after fighting a long illness.
Bobby was born September 26, 1928 in Joplin, son of the late Elzy Glenn Hinshaw and Helen Irene (Barker) Hinshaw. He graduated from Joplin High School in 1947, and then served in the United States Marine Corp from 1947 until 1950, serving on an Aircraft Carrier. Upon his discharge, he returned to Joplin and was manager of Tri-State Drive In and the Fox Theatre and Orpheum Theatre on Main Street. In 1954 he began ABC Ambulance Service and Night Watch Security of Joplin which served the four-state area for several years. He also worked as an EMT in Mountain Home, Arkansas. After retirement he moved to Texas Creek, Colorado. He then was a manager of the Whispering Pines Resort, located on the Arkansas River, until ill health forced his second retirement in November 2006.
In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by a brother, Eljo Hinshaw, and his beloved dog, Popcorn.
Survivors include a son, Brent Hinshaw of Salida, Colorado; three daughters, Kristy Stewart, Carolyn Fahnholtz and Devon Smith all of Joplin; sister, Betty Lou Patterson of Joplin; grandchildren, Erik Walters, Jaycen Stewart, Mathew Miller, Ryan Smith, Keaton Fahnholtz, Ivy Edgett; great-grandchild, Shaelyn Walters.
Funeral services will be Friday, March 28, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel.
Interment will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors.

Obit: Dallas Hunt, age 58, of Joplin, Mo., passed away at his residence on April 5, 2008, following a sudden illness. Dallas was born on May 13, 1949, in Joplin.
He has been a lifetime area resident and worked for the Hawkeye Building Company. Dallas married Linda Ebbs on Feb. 14, 1967, in Joplin. She survives. Additional survivors include two daughters, Candy Crockett and her husband, David, of Glenwood, Iowa, and Debra D. Hunt, of Joplin; his mother, Mary Hunt Brand, of Exeter, Mo.; one brother, Lloyd Hunt, of Diamond, Mo.; one sister, May Ann Smith, of Columbus, Kan.; and two grandchildren, Nichole and Katy Crockett.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Howard Brand; and one brother, Bill Hunt.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. Mike Whorlow, Minister, will officiate.
Interment will be in Osborne Memorial Cemetery. Those gentlemen serving as pallbearers will be Dan Houston, Chad Daniels, Max Majors, Brandon Hendrix, Martin Balderas and Phillip Martin. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary and Chapel.BACK- Jasper County, MO Genealogy Trails
