Obit: Henry "Fred" Frederick Kohler, age 69, Joplin, passed away at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2008 at his home after a long illness.
Fred was born March 3, 1939 in Joplin to the late George and Minnie Kohler and had lived in the Joplin area most of his life.
He was an automobile mechanic and enjoyed working in his garage in his spare time. He loved the outdoors and was fond of gardening and fishing.

He married Joy VanValkenburg in 1958 and together they had two children.
He then married Carol Kasper in 1964 and together they had four children.

Survivors include his children, Henry F. Kohler, Jr. and wife, Veronica, Montrose, Colorado, James Kohler and wife, Sandra, Joplin, Teresa Maroney and husband, Bill, Neosho, Jeff Kohler, Miami, Oklahoma, Judy Fulps, Chanute, Kansas, Vicky Kohler, Chanute, Kansas; two brothers, Bill Kohler and wife, Norma, Joplin, Tom Kohler, Seneca; 10 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.

Fred has been taken for cremation. Memorial services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday at Parker Mortuary chapel with visitation following
