Obit: Virginia "Gin" Louise Miller Purdom, of Joplin, Mo., passed away Friday, April 4, 2008. She died suddenly with no apparent discomfort, a final blessing, given that her last years had been spent in considerable pain. During her 72 years, Gin had survived cancer of almost every major organ, including her brain.
Despite this and despite a crippling disease that kept her largely confined, Gin's courage and great sense of humor were an inspiration for all who knew
her. She was born on Oct. 8, 1935, in Blanchard, Okla. Gifted with many talents, including a musician and artist, she had retired as a realtor. Gin has now joined her beloved husband, Chuck. Also preceding her in death are her parents, Jake and Ruth Miller; her sister, Linda; and two beloved nephews, Darren and Christopher. She is survived by her daughter, Ruth Purdom; her brother, Billy Miller, of Grove, Okla.; and her sister, Dixie Stewart, of Edmond, Okla. She is also survived by loving, patient friends whose contribution toward making her last few years pleasant, is deeply appreciated.

It was Gin's request that she be cremated. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday April 8, at 2 p.m. at Mason-Woodard Mortuary and Chapel.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary and Chapel.
