Obit: Mrs. Alta Loraine Babb, 49, Granby, died at 9:23 p.m. Sunday, September 2, 1973 in Sale Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Born Oct. 1, 1923 in Benedict, Kan., Mrs. Babb moved to Granby 10 years ago from St. Louis.
She is survived by her husband, Earl F.; Three sons, Curtiss, Keith, and Clyde, all of the home; one daughter, Karla, of the home; one brother, Everett Daniels, Kansas City, Mo.; and four sisters, Mrs. Juanita Wischman, Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. Dorothy Strange, Denver, Colo., Mrs. Lois Paffauar, Independence, Kan., and Mrs. Betty Jarvin, Dubuque, Iowa.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Granby Methodist Church. The Rev. Ronald Payne will officiate and burial will be in Granby Memorial Cemetery, under the direction of Clark-Shewmake Funeral Home.

Obit: Earl F. Babb, 58, Lampe, died Saturday morning June 9, 1979 at the Cox Medical Center, Springfield.
Mr. Babb was born June 26, 1920, at Chelsea, Okla. He was a retired Army Lt. Col., serving 23 years. He moved to Lampe in 1977 from Granby. His first wife, Alta Loraine Daniels Babb preceded him in death on September 2, 1973.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Nanny Babb, his mother, Jennie Babb, Granby; three sons, Curtis, Neosho, Keith, Neosho, and Clyde, Independence, Kan.; and one daughter, Karla Taylor, Independence, Kan.; three step-sons, Kenneth Hurmence, Sumner, Iowa, Douglas Hurmence, Worland, Wy., and Mark Hurmence, Lampe; one step-daughter, Ann Marie George, Lampe; one sister, Lorene Stodtell, Phoenix, Ariz.; one grandchild and four step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Hillcrest Church of Christ in Neosho with Don Deffenabaugh officiating.
Burial will be in Granby Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Clark-Shewmake Funeral Home, Granby. Full military rites will be conducted by personnell from Ft. Leonard Wood.
The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Obit: Ryan Micheal Baker, age 20 of Joplin, passed away at his home at 9:20 a.m. Monday, May 4, 2009.
     Born May 21, 1988 in Joplin, he was a lifetime area resident and graduated from Diamond High School in 2006. He was employed with Conway Truckload as a trailer mechanic and was a member of Reinmiller Baptist Church. He loved working on cars and computers.
     He was preceded in death by his mother, Tereasa Ann Dalbey Baker and his paternal grandfather, Dale Baker.
     Survivors include his father, Steve Baker and wife Tammy of Joplin; his brother, Jason L. Baker of Joplin; paternal grandmother, Peggy Baker of Joplin; two stepsisters, Shelby and Kelsey Shumaker; his aunt, Cindy Baker of Joplin; four uncles, Jerry Baker and wife Terri, Richard, John and Robert Dalbey.
     Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Parker Chapel with Rev. Kenny Simonson and Rev. Larry Sparks officiating. Interment will follow at Saginaw Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Parker Mortuary.

Obit: Tereasa Ann Baker, age 42, Joplin, passed away at 4:31 p.m. Sunday, January 22, 2006 at Freeman West Hospital.
Tereasa was born September 5, 1963 in Omaha, Nebraska to the late Doyle Dalbey and Nancy Dory Copher and had lived in Joplin since 1984 moving from Rogers, Arkansas. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Baker Towing Service and was an antique dealer in Joplin. She was a member of Reinmiller Baptist Church. Tereasa loved to fish and attend her antique auctions.
She is survived by her husband, Steve; two sons, Jason and Ryan Baker, Joplin; three brothers, Richard Dalbey and Frances, Greenville, Texas, Robert Dalbey and Sandy Burke, Waco, Missouri, John Dalbey and Starlett, Garfield, Arkansas; her stepmother, Shirley Dalbey, Rogers, Arkansas; a stepbrother, Richard Copher; and several other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by two stepbrothers, Troy Copher and Terry Cline; and a niece, Nancy Dalbey.
Services will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Dr. Raymond Wells and Rev. Kenny Simonson will officiate. Interment will follow at Saginaw Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Parker Mortuary. The family will be at 1600 Reinmiller Road.

Obit: NEOSHO, Mo.-Todd Randall Baker, 17, Neosho route 5, was pronounced dead at 4:30 a.m. Sunday, August 12, 1990 at the scene of a one-car accident on Highway V, about four miles west of Diamond.
Mr. Baker was born Aug. 15, 1972, at Nevada, Mo., to Donald Baker and Diane Lee (Edens) Baker. He was a lifetime resident of the Diamond and Neosho area. He was a 1990 graduate of Diamond High School, where he was an honor student, and a member of the track team and the Future Business Leaders of America. He also was a member of the First Lutheran Church. He was employed at Wendy's restaurant in Joplin.
He is survived by his mother, Diana Baker, Neosho; his father, Donald Baker, Carthage; two sisters, Tiffany Dawn Carter, Alba, and Cendia "Cindy" Lynn Walker, Neosho; and his maternal grandparents, Rollie and Esther Juanita Edens, Neosho.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Clark Funeral Home. Burial will be in Diamond Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Doug Tanner, Brian Cope, Justin Shepherd, Mark Wood, Kevin Allen, and Evan Tanner.

Mrs. Ball was born May 17, 1908, in Granby, Missouri, the daughter of Peter "Petten" Moltar Varner and Clara Adaline (Brown) Varner.
Mrs. Ball and Henry William Ball were married July 08, 1928 in Newton County, Mo. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her four daughters, Betty Jo Hodges, Patsy L. Hopper, Dorothy L. Chadwich, and Brenda S. Cook; one sister, Helen Fellows, 30 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; and 29 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Henry and two sons, Floyd I. and Carl C. Ball.
Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at Green Acres Chapel of Light, Scottsdale Ariz.

Obit: Dannie Curtis Barclay, 62, Neosho, died at 6:07 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2003, at Freeman Neosho Emergency Room, following a long illness.
He was Sept. 13, 1940, in Goodman, Mo., Jack and Lorene A. (Terry) Barclay. His father preceded him in death on April 1, 1993.
He graduated from the University of Missouri-Rolla and was a mechanical engineer. He worked at NASA in Houston, Texas, and at Tinker Air Force Base. He retired in 1993 and returned to the area from Del City, Okla. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Midwest City, Okla.
He and Virginia Ann Edens were married on Aug. 11, 1962 in Diamond, Mo. She survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Richard C. Barclay, Val Rico, Calif.; a daughter, Michelle L. Singleton, Yukon, Okla.; his mother, Lorene Barclay, Goodman; two brothers, Ronald and Stephen Barclay both of Anderson; a sister, Helen Weaver, Springfield; and three grandchildren, Dwan Singleton, Kaleigh Singleton, and Zachary Barclay.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Clark Funeral Chapel of Memories with pastor Curtis Cox officiating.
Burial will be in Diamond Cemetery, Diamond, Mo.
Pallbearers will be Joey Spiva, Ronnie Wells, Bob Bass, Billy Cox, Max Gebhart, and Rod Barclay.

He and his wife, Sumanben Hasmukhlal Bhakta, have owned the Plymouth Rock Motel in Neosho since 1980.
Hasmukhlal is survived by his wife, of Neosho, and two sons, Bhavenesh Bhakta, Katy, Texas and Dharmesh Bhakta, Joplin.
Prayer and funeral services were held Feb. 7 and 8 at the South Park Funeral Home in Pearland, Texas.

Obit: Neosho, Mo. — Connie Lynette Bohannan, 58, Muskogee, Okla., died April 28, 2012, at Freeman Neosho Hospital, following a short illness.
Connie was born Sept. 30, 1953 in Neosho. She was the daughter of Leonard and Hazel (Tanner) Hopper. She was a homemaker and had worked at Freeman Hospital.
Connie married Ralph Bohannan. He precedes her death.
She is survived by her mother, Hazel Blakenship; a daughter, Betty Jo Brady; a son, Bobby Hopper; three brothers, Gary L. Hopper, Mike Hopper and Jim Hopper; three sisters, Kay Pugh, Fay Robertson and Nancy Hollingsworth; and eight grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her father, Leonard Hopper and a brother, Larry G. Hopper.
A memorial visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Clark Funeral Home, Neosho. The body has been cremated.

Obit: GRANBY, Mo. -- The Rev. Orville Boothe, Granby, died at 2:20 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at Sparks Hospital in Fort Smith, Ark.
The Rev. Boothe was born Dec. 17, 1909, at Halltown, Mo. He was a lifetime resident of the area and pastored several area churches.
He married Clara Linder on April 30, 1928, at Carthage, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 29, 1998.
Survivors include three sons, Danny Boothe, Neosho, Paul Boothe, Blanchard, Okla., and Richard Boothe, Goodman; three daughters, Velma Clausen, Cheney, Kan., Alma Phillips, Mt. Hope, Kan., and Dorothy Adams, Greenwood, Ark.; a brother, Brad Boothe, Sarcoxie; 75 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 18 at Granby Miracle Church, Granby. The Rev. Howard Raney of Howard Hill Assembly of God Church in Greenwood, Ark., and the Rev. Wayne Brust of Granby Miracle Church will officiate.

Penny was born Sept. 16, 1954, in Neosho, the daughter of David and Anna (Benge) Abernathy.  She was a lifelong area resident, a homemaker and enjoyed reading, cooking and being with her family and was a member of the Granby Miracle Church. 
Penny married Danny Boothe, April 7, 1982, in Neosho and he survives. 
Also surviving are three children, Tammie Hays and David Henry, both of Neosho, Gabriel Henry of Paris, Texas; three grandchildren, Tyler and Sydney Hays, Neosho, and Cody Henry, Paris, Texas; her father, David Abernathy and wife, Dorothy, Neosho; a step-brother, Bill Lewis, Neosho; six step-sisters, Linda Taylor, Diamond, Judy Gilbert, Neosho, Connie Sreaves, Winoka, Okla., Donna Gilbert, Seneca, Brenda Roller, Neosho and Shawn Creger, Norman, Okla. 
Penny was preceded in death by her mother, Anna Lumpkins.

Obit: SENECA, MO — Lee Roy Bradfield, age 81, Seneca, Mo., passed away on Monday, April 9, 2012, at his home after a lengthy illness.
Lee Roy was born Feb. 24, 1931, in Goodman, Mo., son of the late Vess Bradfield and Goldie Bradfield. He worked as a truck driver for Shank’s Fruit and Rolla Walker.
He married Nancy Irlene Howerton on Jan. 11, 1955, in Miami, Okla., and the couple moved to California. While in California, he worked as a mechanic for a Volkswagen dealership and he worked in an Agitator Shop installing appliances for several years before being involved in an industrial accident that caused his disability.
The couple returned to Seneca in 1972, and built their home. He acquired many friends over the years and was known to work on their lawnmowers and other small engines from time to time. He was a member of Reinmiller Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Lee Roy was preceded in death by a brother, Lathe Bradfield.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Nancy Irlene Howerton Bradfield; sons, Rick Leroy Bradfield and Dale Edward Bradfield, of Joplin; daughter, Carol Case, of Baxter Springs, Kan.; grandchildren, Nathan Case, of Baxter Springs, and Justin Case, of Joplin; sisters, Etta Marie Morgan, of Miami, Okla., Mary Hembree, of Joplin; brothers, Jim Burtrum, of Miami, Bill Burtrum, of Miami, Ray Burtrum, of Lebanon, Mo., Rex Burtrum, of Miami, and John Burtrum, of Miami; nephew, Stephen Bradfield, of Joplin; and nieces, Karen Bradfield and Sharon Bradfield.
Graveside services will be Friday, April 13, at 2 p.m. in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Larry Sparks officiating.

Obit: ORONOGO, Mo. — Chlora A. Brashears, 86, Oronogo, died Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009, at the home of her daughter, following a lengthy illness.
She was born May 30, 1923, in Purdy, to John and Minnie (Bowen) Barrett.
Mrs. Brashears was a homemaker and lived most of her life in the Diamond and Neosho areas.
She was a charter member of Silver Moon Full Gospel Church.
Chlora married Leon Alfred Brashears, April 22, 1940, in Granby.  He preceded her in death March 31, 1996.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Shirley Brashears, Granby, and Jerry and Sue Brashears, Oronogo; three daughters, Linda Marble, Neosho, Sheron and Gary Vass, Springfield, Mo., and Reta Carr, Webb City; nine grandchildren; 14 great- grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Obit: Vivian C. Bridge, 89, Granby, died Tuesday morning, July 28, 2009.  She was born Jan. 5, 1920, in Granby, to William Dewey Beaver and Cynthia Anna (Capps) Beaver.
Vivian and her husband, Lee, owned and operated the Dairy Bar café in Diamond, for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Granby for more than 60 years, and taught Sunday school for 55 years.
Vivian and Lee Bridge were married Dec. 19, 1939. He preceded her in death. 
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and siblings.
She is survived by two sons, Jim Bridge, Joplin, and Dick Bridge, Tahlequah, Okla.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday at Clark Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Fred Franks officiating. Burial will follow at Granby Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Funeral services for Nancy "Nannie" Jane (McBee) Brock, 41 years old, Elm Springs who died Jan. 17th at her home after a battle with tuberculosis, were held Jan. 20th at Elm Springs with burial being in the Elm Springs cemetery.
Mrs. Brock was born March 21, 1861 at Elm Springs, Missouri, the daughter of Ephraim Wesley McBee and Minerva Mary (Waggoner) McBee.
Nannie married William Barton Brock on Dec. 24, 1883 at her parent's home in Elm Springs. He survives.
Other survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Goldie Brown, Blanche Elizabeth Brock, Edna Teodosha Brock, Liccy Mae Brock, and Maggie Cleo Brock.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a set of twin daughters, Boothie and Claudie, and several siblings.
They are passing over one by one.

Obit: James L. Brockman of Miami, Oklahoma passed away Friday November 26, 2010 at Miami, Oklahoma. He was 63.
Mr. Brockman was born April 19, 1947 in Miami, Oklahoma to Donald Raymond and Wanda "Price" Brockman. He had lived in Miami most of his life. He was a truck driver with Prime Trucking Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include two sons, Greg Brockman of AL,; and Cory Brockman of Quapaw, Oklahoma; two daughters Kim Walser of AL,; and Candy Brockman of Catoosa, Oklahoma; two step daughters Kathy Babb of Miami, Oklahoma, and Casey Null of Finton, Missouri; one sister, Betty Campbell Dunaway of Glenpool, Oklahoma,; 5 Grandchildren and 3 Step Grandchildren; one niece, Jennifer Campbell of Owasso, Oklahoma; and one nephew, Jeff Campbell of Glenpool, Oklahoma.
Graveside Memorial Services will be Wednesday December 1, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Hickory Grove Cemetery North of Grove, Oklahoma. Pastor Don Skaggs will officiate. Services are under the directions of the Paul Thomas Funeral Home of Miami, Oklahoma.

Obit: Granby, Mo. — Lorenzo E. Brown, 95, Granby, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2011, at the Veterans’ Home in Mt. Vernon, following a long illness. 
He was born Jan. 26, 1916, in Sedan, N.M., to John James Brown and Ellen (Burlingham) Brown.
Mr. Brown was a lifelong area resident and a member of the Church of Hope, in Neosho. He retired from the U. S. Air Force in 1960.
Lorenzo and Tylitha Juanita Manning were married Nov. 10, 1945, in Crossett, Ark. She preceded him in death June 10, 2003. 
He was also preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters.
He is survived by two daughters, Kay Crenshaw, Galena, Kan., and Denise Green, Miami, Okla.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Velma Brock, Neosho.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, at Clark Funeral Home Chapel, Granby, with Rev. Malcolm Mosby officiating. Burial will follow in Granby Memorial Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be William Crenshaw, Tim Newman, Jonathan Brown, Ason Brown and Jonah Summitt.
Friends may call at Clark Funeral Home in Granby, from 1 – 4 p.m. today. The family will receive friends from 3 - 4 p.m.

Obit: Neosho, Mo. — Bonnie “Joyce” Brust, 78, formerly of Neosho, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010, in Kokomo, Ind. 
She was born Aug. 17, 1932.
Mrs. Brust worked as a seamstress at Big Smith Manufacturing and was a member of the Bible Holiness Assembly of God Church. She and her husband enjoyed flowers and once received the Flower Box Beauty Spot of the Week.
Joyce and Virgil Garland Brust were married Dec. 26, 1953; he preceded her in death Oct. 13, 2004.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers.
She is survived by a brother, George Greenhaw, Neosho; two sisters, Carol Roberts and husband, Bill, Warsaw, Mo., and Sue Cook, Neosho; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hazel Green Cemetery, Boulder City. Lynn Brust will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.

Carolyn co-owned and operated Lighthouse Cafe' in Columbus, Ks. She lived in Neosho for several years, before returning to Columbus a year ago. She was a member of the Word of Life Church in Hollowell, KS.
Carolyn married Norman Busker, March 2, 1989, in Miami, OK; he survives. Additional survivors include three children, John Millner, Carl Junction, MO, Renea Mullins, Paris IL, Jason Sanders, Columbus, KS.; three stepchildren, Lloyd Busker, Neosho, MO, Lena Busker, Diamond, MO, and Kevin Busker, Neosho, MO; three brothers, Vernie Zook and Larry Zook, both of Columbus, KS, and Rusty Zook, Parsons, KS; two sisters, Kay Garrett, Joplin, MO, and Linda Nelson, Columbus, KS; 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Obit: Norman L. Busker, 70, Columbus, KS, died April 29, 2010 at his home following a long time illness. Mr. Busker was born May 21, 1939 in Diamond, MO, the son of Orville and Josie (Marble) Busker. He was a graduate of Neosho High School, class of 1957 and was a lifelong area resident and had served in the National Guard. He had worked at Schreiber Cheese in Carthage for many years as a maintenance mechanic and retired in 1989. He was a member of the Word of Life Church in Hallowell, KS. Norman is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Lee Busker, Sept. 10, 2008; his parents and brother, Kenneth Busker. He is survived by six children, Lloyd Keith Busker, Neosho; Kevin Leon Busker, Neosho; Lena Mae Busker, Granby; John Millner, Carl Junction, MO; Renea Mullins, Paris, Ill and Jason Sanders, Columbus, KS; 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held on Monday, May 3, 2010 at 10 am at the Greenwood Cemetery, Richard Stapleton will officiate. Obit: Uncle Brock Bussell of Wadill died Nov. 16, 1906, aged 76 years, 1 month and 1 day. He was born in Sangamon county, Ill., Oct 14, 1883. Married Miss Martha Pilchford 52 years ago, moved to Texas in 1858, served 4 years in the Confederate army and came to Missouri in 1870 and has been a citizen of Newton county ever since. His wife and several children survive him. Uncle Brock was a faithful Christian and splendid man. The remains were laid to rest in the Macedonia cemetery.---Stella  Record

Pamela Ann Hopper was born July 8, 1954 in Miami, OK the daughter of Rex and Betty (Lewelling) Hopper. She was a 1972 graduate of Seneca High School and a member of the Seneca Church of Christ. Pam worked for La-Z-Boy in Neosho, MO for 23 years and was a homemaker. Pamela Ann Hopper married Floyd Ray Ball Jr. November 17, 1972 in Seneca, MO and he survives. Additional survivors include her mother, Betty Hopper, Seneca; two sons, Corey Ball, Seneca and Chris Ball and wife Brandy, Seneca; one brother, Bill Hopper, Seneca; two grandchildren, Myli and Neveah Ball both of Seneca. Pam was preceded in death by her father Rex Hopper, Grandmother's Viola Lewelling and Ottis Hopper and grandfathers, Otis Lewelling and Jim Hopper. Funeral services under the personal direction of Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home Seneca, will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, October 10, 2013 at the Seneca Church of Christ with Jake King officiating. Burial will be in the Seneca Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Begey was born June 3, 1895 in Parsons, Kan., and moved to Neosho in 1952 with her husband, Charles A. Begey, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Joe, Encina, Calif.; one daughter, Charlene Tireff, Orlando, Fla.; one stepson, C. W. Begey, Neosho; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Lucille Roberts, Tulsa, and Mrs. Mary Robertson, Ft. Worth, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. today at the Magdelan Catholic Church in Tulsa with burial in Neosho Memorial Park Cemetery at 1 p.m. Tuesday with Father Jim Unterreiner officiating.
