Mrs. Mezur Davis has returned to her home after spending
several weeks in St.Louis with her children.
Accompanying her home was her son, Frederick , and daughter, Mrs.
Fern Jackson. Mrs. Davis has been sick, but is improved now.Cane Hill Happenings
Mrs. Davis, Floyd and Hazel returned to their home in Coweta, Okla.,

Spike Davis Suffers Stroke
Roy "Spikie" Davis suffered a stroke early last Monday morning and
although he has improved some he is unable to speak and does not
have much use of his body. While Spike is a young man he is a
veteran railroad employee with about 25 years service with the risco
as brakemen. Davis has 4 brothers who are also employed by the
Frisco who live in Thayer.

WORLDS NO 1 EVENT FOR SPECTATORS HAS BIRTHDAY-
NOTE: This is the history of the game of basketbll, as invented by
Dr. James A Naismith, father of Mrs. Tom Dawe, of Thayer. Dr
Naismith served as a physical director of the college in Springfield
Mass., introducing balls and peach baskets. He later moved to
Lawrence, Kan., where he died in 1939. This article was
published in the Kansas City Star, then republished in The Thayer
News Fri. 28 Jan 1949 p1

Business Changes-
Tom Dawe of the White River Milling Co., has purchased the Crockett
Brothers Garage.
Mr Dawe took charge of the garage the first of this week.
The Crockett brothers have been operating the business for the past
several months and have enjoyed a nice business.

JUST AS IT HAPPENS- Sam L. Davis sold his goods at auction
on his farm in Highland Township Sat., and has moved to
Thayer. He purchased the neat residence on the wesst
side of South Third Stree from R. H. Powell. Mr. Davis
and family are attracted to Thayer by our excellent school.
