Leonard Davis Wounded in Action
  Leonard Davis, 22 year old son of Mr. and Mrs Frank Davis of the Royal  Oak community, has been wounded in action in North Africa where he has  been with the US Army,
according to a recent message received by his  parents.  No particulars of the injury have been given, but hte  War Department has in a message to the parents advised
them if  Leonard's condition becomes worse they will be notified; from the length of time since receipt of the first message the young man's  condition is [sic] appartentely no longer serious.  Felix  Davis, a younger son of this couple has recently been transferred to  over sea service, after completing basic training at Camp Barkley,  Texas.

  MEN  WHO GO MONDAY- TRAIN WILL LEAVE THAYER AT 12:15 THE NIGHT OF JUNE 24TH.-
  The Local (War) Board has orders to send 6 men to Camp Pike, Ark., to  fill Oregon County's quota, called for the 24th of June.
These  men will assemble at Thayer at 6 O'clock P M at the Atkisson Hotel, on  Mon June 24th,
Six of the following will make up the quota:  
William Albert Dabbs  -  Tran, to Okla
  Isaac Sandridge - Jobe
  Elice C. Wooldridge - Thayer
  Perry Standford Burrow  - Myrtle
  Richard Toomas Pierce - Thomasville
  Wm. Geo. Evans - Thayer
  Everett Roy Miller - Alton
  Samuel Draby - Pocahontas Ark.
  Milton  Davis - Thayer R-2
  The following will go with this contingency
 Charles  Huff  -  Trans from Ark.
 John  Green  -   Trans from Ark.
 Robin  Boze  -    Trans. from Colo
