LIDA BOZMAN, daughter of J. Willard and Josephine Amelia Ricketts Risner, was born June 3, 1910 in Oregon County and died Friday, June 26, 1998 in West Plains, MO at the age of 88 years and 23 days.
On April 28, 1930, she was married at Salem, AR to Louis J. Bozman.
Mrs. Bozman attended grade school and high school in Thayer.  She also attended the Kansas City School of Music in the spring of 1930, and received a degree in directing home talent plays and modeling.
She and her husband moved to West Plains in the summer of 1941.  She was employed at Eads' Store for 29 years and was a buyer of ready-to-wear.  She has helped and given more than forty wedding showers and was the chairman of bereavement dinners for years.
She and her husband sponsored an orphan boy from India for many years and made it possible for him to attend school.
Mrs. Bozman organized four Federated Women's Clubs in West Plains, including Girl's Town, the Progressive Study club and Mutual Improvement.  She served as president of Missouri Federated Women's Clubs Sixth District from 1981 to 1984 and also served on their board for five years.  She was a member and past president of West Plains Library Club II, the Elizabeth Group, and the Business and Professional Women's organization.  She was BPW Woman of the Year for three years, and BPW recently named its annual scholarship to a West Plains High School graduating senior as the "Lida Bozman Senior Girls Scholarship."
She was a lifetime member of the Chamber of Commerce, started the Southern Belle's Grandmother's Club, was a Gray Lady at West Plains Memorial Hospital when it first opened, had a musical radio request program on KWPM and served as vice chairman on the Bicentennial Celebration Committee in 1976.
She had received more than twelve awards for her many years as volunteer and fundraiser for the American Heart and Cancer Funds.  She also received an award for her work with the United Way, received the Senior Citizen Award and was Rotary Ann for the Year in this district.
Mrs. Bozman was a member of the First United Methodist Church in West Plains where she was in the choir for 45 years and was in charge of the choir robes.
Survivors include her husband, Louis Bozman of West Plains; four nephews, John L. Malony, Kansas City, John Fissel, Tulsa, OK, and Dewey Lawrence Fissel and G. H. Fissel, both of Thayer; one niece, Patsy Ruth Adams, Morning Sun, KY; and several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Sam Risner; and three sisters, Icie LaDorn Risner, George Ann Malony and Neva L. Fissel.
Funeral services for Lida Bozman of West Plains were at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 29, 1998 at the First Methodist Church in West Plains with the Rev. Geoffrey Posegate officiating under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home of West Plains.  Interment was in the Thayer Cemetery.

NELLIE ELIZABETH YOUNG BREWER, daughter of the late John Young and Josie Campbell Young Bailey, was born August 4, 1913 in Oregon County, MO
and died April 30, 1999 at the age of 85 years, eight months and 26 days.
On June 14, 1931 in Myrtle, MO, Nellie was united in marriage to Ralph W. Brewer, who preceded her in death November 22, 1980.
Mrs. Brewer was a homemaker and attended the Evening Light Message Church of Thayer.

Survivors include two sons, J. C. Brewer and wife, Hazel, Thayer, MO and Paul Brewer and wife, Cecile, Thayer; one daughter, Linda Simmons and husband, Junior, Thayer; one sister, Thelma Weaver of Pocahontas, AR; one brother, Clifton Young of Thayer; eleven grandchildren, Johnny Brewer and wife, Phyllis, Judy Brewer, Vicki McDaniel, Tammy Ward and husband, Tim, Tony Brewer and wife, Becky, Daniel Brewer and wife, Sharon, Angie Lawrence, Becky Haley and husband, Joe, Christopher Simmons and wife, Barbie, Susan Pounders and husband, Jeremy and Chantel Simmons, all of Thayer; twenty-one great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Opal Brewer of Pocahontas, Vida Fletcher of Doniphan, Mo and Vala Duncan of FL; one brother-in-law, J. D. Brewer of Little Rock, AR; and several nieces and nephews..

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; one infant son, Norman Eugene Brewer; one infant grandson, Joseph Brewer; and two brothers, Thadius and Lewis Young.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 3, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Revs. Dough McHughes and Billy P. Branham officiating.
Interment was in the Thayer Cemetery under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home, Inc. of Thayer, MO.
