Hazel Laverne Graham, 73, died May 24, 2001 in her home in Caruthersville.  Born February 14, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Miles Meals and Mattie Lee Byrd Meals.  She attended the Caruthersville Schools and was employed as a catalog manager with J.C. Penny and as a bookkeeper with Hubbard Lumber Company prior to retirement.  She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.  She was preceded in death by one brother, Hershel Meals. 
Her survivors include one daughter,  Wanda Mithcell of Hayti; two sons, Albert Graham of Jackson, and James Graham of Portageville, four brothers,
Thomas Meals of Michigan City, Ind., Doug Meals of Caruthersville, Pete Meals of Caruthersville, and Buddy Meals of Waynette, Okla., her sister-in-law, 
Carlie Meals of Milan Tenn., six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many friends.  Funeral services were held Saturday, May 26 at the Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Charles Keller officiating.  Burial was in the Maple Cemetery in Caruthersville.  Pallbearers were Jeff Meals, Trey Meals, James Younger, Glenn Meals, and Gary Meals.  The H.S. Smith Funeral Home was in charge of the services.
