Township 51, Range 26, Section 9 sw 1/4 NE 1/4

Argyle Taylor Boggess, Sr. and his wife, Eva Catherine (Biles) Boggess, left Lawrenceburg KY with one son, Henry C. Boggess, and Eva's father,, Joseph Biles,, early in the spring of 1837. They traveled by covered wagon drawn by a team of oxen, arriving in the fall in the Oak Grove community near the Buffalo settlement on Crooked River. Among their possessions was $1100 sewn in a sack of wool.

In 1838 the Mormons decided to leave Missouri. Argyle Taylor Boggess, Sr.. purchased 400 acres of land from two Mormons, Philip Curtis and Andrew Legget. The Mormons had a cemetery with no markers on this land. They did not want their burial grounds to be known. Later the Boggess family, the George Frazier family and others buried around this Mormon burial ground. George Frazier had come from Anderson County, KY and settled in Crooked River township. His wife was Almira J. Biles.

The cemetery is on private land owned by Joanne Boggess and Susan Ward Boggess, descendants of Argyle Taylor Boggess, Sr. (1993) From Cemeteries of Crooked River Township, Missouri: Alfred McKemy
