In 1830 Joshua & Gracy Leakey homesteaded land NE of Hardin, and 1/4 acre was set aside by deed for a cemetery. Joshua Leakey was buried there in 1853; Gracy in 1874. They lost a son, John, who was buried before them. It is thought burial in the cemetery began in 1850. This land was once an orchard and is now a beautiful well-kept cemetery.
