Old Union Christian Union Church

Polk Township

First known as Union Meeting House.

O'Kellyite Christians and some Presbyterians combined to build the Union Meeting House, on land donated by Abram Titus. The church record book began in 1847.

Several road records for Ray County contain mention of "Union Meeting House" when roads were constructed in the area.

The original log structure is beleived to be where the flag pole in the cemetery is located at now. (2008)

The 1973 Ray County History book states that the church was organized in 1847 and called "The Christian Church at Union Meeting Hosue."

In 1866 the church was reorganized and affiliated with General Christian Union of the United States. The church was known as "Union Christian Union Church." Later it was known as "Union Ray County, or Old Union Christian Union Church."

In 1902 the present building was erected with additions added on since that time.

The church is located in the Union comminity and is still an ative and thriving church.

Cemetery - Though Union (Old) Cemetery has never been owned by the church, many beleive that the church does own it. Many church members do serve on the cemetery board.
