JOHANILLA KIELHAFNER, 101; TEACHER-- Sister Johanilla
Kielhafner, who at 101 was the oldest member of the Adorers of the
Blood of Christ in Ruma, Ill., died Saturday (Sept. 3, 1994) at
Clementine Hall in Ruma.
Sister Johanilla entered the order in 1909 and professed her first vows
on July 12, 1911.
Beginning in 1912, she taught in elementary schools, a career that
lasted 60 years. In Illinois, she taught at St. Cecilia in Bartelso,
St. Joseph in Freeburg, St. Mary in Taylorville, St. Elizabeth in East
St. Louis, St. Mary in Mount Carmel, St. Andrew in Murphysboro and Sts.
Peter and Paul in Waterloo. She also taught at Catholic Children's Home
in Alton.
In Missouri, she taught at Visitation in Vienna, St. Augustine in Kelso
and St. Joseph in Zell.
Sister Johanilla was born Clara Kielhafner on Aug. 7, 1893, in New
Hamburg, Mo. In 1904, she attended the World's Fair in St. Louis.
A wake will begin at 4 p.m. today in the Provincial House Chapel. The
wake service will be at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at
10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Convent Cemetery.
Among the survivors is a sister, Rose Lanham of St.

CAROLYN KRUSIE,
73, of Palm Harbor, died Sunday (July 27, 1997) at Palm Garden of
Clearwater nursing home. She was born in Vanduser, Mo., and came here
in 1988 from St. Louis. She was a homemaker and a member of First
Christian Church, Clearwater, and First Christian Church of Tarpon
Springs. Survivors include her husband, Carl; a son, Ronald, St. Louis;
a daughter, Cathleen Carey, Lewisburg, Pa.; two brothers, Clinton
Davis, Palm Harbor, and Sam Davis, Phoenix; two sisters, Ruth Joines
and Vivian Toliver, both of St. Louis; and five grandchildren. American
Burial and Cremation Service, Palm Harbor.
