Broadwater County, Montana is a county rich with history. It was a stop for Lewis and Clark as they
followed the Missouri River. It had a gold rush in 1864 when gold was discovered in the Big Belt
Mountains. It is also rich in railroad history . The county seat, Townsend,
was a stop for the Northern Pacific Railway.
