Peter E. Granot
Peter E. Granot, Jr., 75, of Lewistown, died Sunday morning, Feb. 11, 2007, of natural causes at the Central Montana Skilled Nursing Center. He was born May 7, 1931, in Butte, the son of Peter E. and Emma (Swan) Granot, Sr. Memorial graveside services for Peter E. Granot, Jr. will be held at a later date. At his request, cremation has taken place. The Cloyd Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.Condolences for the family may be left at www.cloydfuneralhome.com.

Catherine F. Petranek
Catherine F. Petranek, 71, passed away of natural causes on Thursday morning, Feb. 8, 2007, at the Central Montana Skilled Nursing Center in Lewistown.Catherine was born Sept. 20, 1935, in Williston, N.D., to Victor H. and Fern B. Fuhs. Abiding to her wishes, there will be no funeral service.Central Montana Crematorium is in charge of cremation. Interment will be at a later date.

Walter R. Barkhoff
Walter R. Barkhoff 70, of Moccasin, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, of natural causes at his home. He was born Sept. 8, 1936, in Moccasin, the son of Clayton Barkhoff and Elsie Skaggs. Private memorial services for Walter R. Barkhoff will be at a later date. Cremation has taken place. Cloyd Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Friends are asked to make memorials to the charity of choice; memorials may be left at the Cloyd Funeral Home. Duane Earl Dewey McCollum
Duane Earl DeweyMcCollum, 60, died Friday night, Feb. 9, 2007, at the Central Montana Skilled Nursing Center in Lewistown. Dewey was born Aug. 8, 1946, in Lewistown to William A. and Lois Marie (Jenkins) McCollum. There will be a wake from 2 to 4 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 19 at the Empire Restaurant, where his friends and relatives will celebrate Dewey life.

Norman John Wagner
LEWISTOWN - FormerFergusCounty assessor and community activist Norman John Wagner died of natural causes Saturday at a Billings hospital, on his 86th birthday.
Memorial services are 1 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Lewistown. Cloyd Funeral Home is in charge of cremation and arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church.
He was born May 1, 1913, in Ripon, Wis., and moved to FergusCounty as a child. He attended ManleyElementary School in Garneill and graduated from BuffaloHigh School in 1931. He worked on the family farm and in the Hi-Line area for several years, overhauled cars and trucks and worked as a fieldman for the Triple A program. After completing a refrigeration and air conditioning course in Chicago, he again returned to work for Triple A.
He served in the Army from 1942-45, then worked as a field engineer for Fergus County PMA.
He married Lois E. Beck Sept. 28, 1946, in Ryegate. He was FergusCounty weed commissioner from 1947-49, then co-owned and operated the Westernaire Drive-In Theater. In 1950 he was elected county assessor, a position he held until he was appointed acting postmaster in Lewistown in 1959. In 1962 he purchased Swiss Cleaners in Lewistown, which he operated until retiring in 1976.
He was a member and vice-commander of the American Legion and a member of the Eagles Lodge, Disabled American Veterans, Argonne II and 40 ct 8. He was also a member of Toastmasters, Kiwanis, and the Good Sam Club, in which he held several local offices and served as state president.
He was president of the Fergus County Board of Education, Fergus County Republican Central Committee and the Lewistown Chamber of Commerce.
He was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lewistown, where he was a Sunday school teacher and was elected to the Church Synod.
His wife died in 1997. Survivors include three children, Donna Hillard ofKirkland, Wash., Peggy Miller of Billings and John Wagner of Spokane and six grandchildren.
