Rosebud County is a frontier county as the density is 2.0 persons per square mile in 1977.
The county's leading source of income is the electric, gas, and sanitary
services industry.
This is also near the spot where Lt. Col. George Armstrong Custer camped along the
banks of Rosebud Creek on the way to his ultimate defeat at the Battle of Little Bighorn in 1876
North of Rosebud on MT 446, Far West State Recreation Area, along Yellowstone
River offers swimming, fishing, boating (a boat ramp is provided) and tent camping.
The population  The county is served by a county health department located in Forsyth
and a Board of Health: The estimated population in 2004 was 9,270.

Parks in Rosebud County include: Cattle Brands Historical Marker, Rosebud Historical Marker,
 Rosebud River Historical Marker, East Rosebud State Park, Poker Jim Research Natural
Area, Tongue River Breaks Hiding and Riding Area, West Rosebud State Park, King Mountain Hiking and Riding Area.

Post offices: Ashland Post Office, Angela Post Office, Birney Post Office,
Hathaway Post Office, Rosebud Post Office, Sumatra Post Office, Ingomar Post Office.

Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation is located in southeastern Montana,
and is approximately 444,000 acres in size with 99% tribal ownership. There are around
9000 enrolled tribal members with about half residing on/near the reservation
