Wibaux is a County in Montana
It was named for Pierre Wibaux, who arrived in Montana in 1883.
He is rumored to have made it through the winter of 1886 by feeding
his cattle cottonwood branches. With his French money, he was able
to buy up livestock at low prices from desperate fellow cattlemen.
By the mid-1890 s 65,000 head of cattle bore his brand, the W Bar.
He built the St. Peter's Catholic Church which was built in the summer
out of native stone and lava rock.
