Cpl James Thomas Edmonds, Vietnam Veteran, Native of Burlington, NC. He was born July 12, 1948 in Burlington, Alamance County, North Carolina and died February 5, 1969 in Tay Ninh, Vietnam.
Corporal James Thomas Edmonds was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army Selective Service and a Draftee, CPL Edmonds served our country until February 5th, 1969 in Tay Ninh, South Vietnam. He was 20 years old and was not married. It was reported that James died from small arms fire or grenade. His body was recovered. CPL Edmonds is on panel 33W, line 062 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for less than a year.
Tommy and I grew up together as first cousins in Burlington, NC. I will always miss him and love him. Carol Soots Morse.
Tommy was a sweet guy and everyone loved him. It's been nearly 35 years since he was killed. I miss him terribly Reoma Edmonds McGinnis.

Edmonds, James Thomas, Private First Class, US Army, died February 5, 1969 from hostile fire in Vietnam. Pvt Edmonds, age 20, was the son of Mrs. Mary Soots Edmonds of 516 South Mebane Street, Burlington, and the late Reo Edmonds. He graduated from Williams High School in 1967. Prior to entering the service, he was employed by Burlington House Fabrics. Surviving in addition to his mother is one sister, Miss Reoma Edmonds. Source: Times-News February 8,1969.

He served with Delta Company, 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division(AMBL), USARV.
He was awarded The Combat Infantryman's Badge, The Bronze Star Medal with One Oak Leaf Cluster, The Army Achivement Medal The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal and The Good Conduct Medal.
