PFC Bentford Bennett, Vietnam Veteran, Native of Lilesville, NC. He was born January 10, 1944 in Lilesville, Anson County, North Carolina

Private First Class Bentford Bennett was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army Selective Service and a Draftee, PFC Bennett served our country until June 23rd, 1966 in South Vietnam. He was 22 years old and was not married. It was reported that Bentford died from small arms fire or grenade. His body was recovered. PFC Bennett is on panel 08E, line 081 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for one year. He was nne of three vets that were killed in Vietnam that were natives of the small town of Lilesville.

He was the son of Mrs Elise Bennett, PO Box 188, Lilesville, NC.

He served with Charlie Company, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division(AMBL), USARV.

He was awarded The Combat Infantryman's Badge)CIB), The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal and The Good Conduct Medal.

Burial: Parson Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Lilesville, Anson Co., North Carolina
