A letter from the Postmaster at Washington, N. Carolina, dated 17th October, says – “We were alarmed this morning between 2 and 3 o’clock this morning by the cry of Fire. It originated in a house occupied by Mr. Robbins, hatter; in its progress it entirely consumed twelve stores and dwelling houses, and was arrested when at one house above the Post office.
