Johnson Bean Dead
Mr. W. J. Bean, an honest and highly respectable citizen, who has lived in Morganton for many years, died last Sunday evening after a long illness. Mr. Bean was a member of the Methodist church and was one of the oldest members of Catawba Valley Lodge, A. F. and A.M. He was buried by the masons in the Methodist church yard on Tuesday morning, a long procession of the craft following his remains to the grave and burying him with the impressive masonic ritual. Rev. T. P. Bonner conducted the services in the church and Rev. J. M. Lumley, chaplain of Catawba Valley Lodge, Led the ceremonies at the grave. (The Herald, Morganton, NC, October 06, 1892).
