All data we come across will be added to this site.  We thank you for visiting and hope you'll come back again to view the updates we make to this site
.

Happy Trails to you on your quest for your ancestors!

CABARRUS COUNTY HISTORY

Cabarrus County was formed on 29 December 1792
from Mecklenburg County.  It was named in honor of Stephen Cabarrus, speaker of the North Carolina House of Commons.  The current county seat is Concord.

Gold was first discovered in Cabarrus County in 1799 and became an important part of the economy.  The wealth of the county can also be attributed to agricultural products.  James W. Cannon opened his first cotton factory in 1887 and went on to build a textile empire.  Today, agriculture still plays a vital role in the economy.
