Lillie BOWERS, 95, of Hayesville, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008.

She was a native of Swain County, but lived in Clay County most of her life. She was the daughter of the late John Marion and Ollie Rose Proctor Wilson, and wife of the late Charlie C. Bowers, who died Aug. 9, 1992. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by four sons, Carl, John Henry, George and Burl Bowers; and two daughters, Nancy Smith and Gail Guffey. Surviving are four daughters, Blanche Overman and husband Jimmy of Burlington, Linda Bailey of Dillon, S.C., and Fay Grizzle and husband Cline and May Grizzle, all of Hayesville; a sister, Evelyn Maney of Seneca, S.C.; 22 grandchildren, 10 stepgrandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 19 stepgreat-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

The family received friends from noon-1:45 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, at Ivie Funeral Home in Hayesville prior to the 
services.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home in Hayesville with Minister Kenneth Sedlacek officiating. Burial was in Union Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Carl, Kevin and Rodney Grizzle, Wayne and Brian Overman, and Jimmy Wheeler.

The family requests memorials be made to Union Hill Cemetery Fund, c/o JoAnn H. Woody, 685 Thumping Creek Road, Hayesville, NC 28904.

Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville, was in charge of all arrangement
