THE WRONG MAN KILLED AGAIN. Cln. Enq. Special]
KINGSTON, N.C., May 22 - A fatal shooting affair occurred here to-day, growing out of an alloged seduction of a young lady of highly respectable parentage. Hiram Overton met Beth Wirt on the streets and charged him with the ruin of a young girl living in his house. Wirt denied the charge, and asserted that he knew nothing of the matter. Overton called him a liar and a scountrel. Wirt caught his accuser by the coat and told him that if he didn't retract the language he would shoot him. The outraged uncle of the girl refused, where upon Wirt drew a pistol. Overton started to run, but was pursued by Wirt who fired three shots at him, one passing throught he body of the pursued man. The other two lodged in his back. Overton fell to the ground, exclaiming, "I am ruined, but I'll never take it back, I'll be d----d if I do." The wounded man died to-night. Both of the parties are highly connected.
