History: Built in 1859 and consecrated Aug. 21, 1859 by Rt. Rev. Thos. Atkinson, Bishop of NC. Used as barracks by Confederate troops during war.
Description: brick, gabled roof, 1 story.
Additional Notes: Calvary Church, known as the Westminster Abbey of the South, was the home church of Bill Nye, famous writer and humorist, and he is buried nearby.
