Drury Grissom’s last will and testament
WILL IN LINCOLN COUNTY,
NORTH CAROLINA
NOVEMBER 26 1827
In the name of God. Amen.
I Drury Grissom
of the County of Lincoln and State of North Carolina
being weak in body but sound in health and mind and memory but calling to mind that it is appointed for all men to die,
do by these presents make this my last will and testament.
First, I recommend my Soul to God who gave it and my body to the earth to be buried in Christian form by and at the discretion of my Executors,
and as to my worldly substances, I will and bequeath as follows -
first I will and bequeath unto my beloved wife her living off the Plantation which I live during her widowhood, her household furniture and clothing,
unto my son, Milton, I will part of my Plantation
beginning at a Black Oak on the old line and running with in North 65East 148 poles to a Black Oak old corner,
thence
with another of the old lines
South 30 West 163 poles to a Hickory
thence
with another old line North 65 East 134 poles to a Persimmon in an old field near the big road.
Thence nearly with the big road North 59 West 96 poles to the beginning
I also will unto him my personal property not otherwise willed,
the rest of my children not herein named have already got all of my estate that I intent for them.
I nominate and appoint Isaac Holland and Milton W. Grissom
my executors, in testimony whereof I hereunto set my hand an seal this 26 day of November, Eighteen hundred and Twenty-seven
