Jesse Cooper
Departed this life on Saturday, the 2d day of April, at 9 o’clock p.m., at his residence near Hamilton, Martin county, N.C., Jesse Cooper, in the eighty-third year of his age, after a severe illness of ten months, from a fall from a pair of bars, which caused a fracture of the capsule joint of the hip, which disabled him so that he was never afterwards able to walk. He bore his sufferings which were severe with great fortitude to the last, and expressed that he was willing to depart this life, and had strong hopes that he should meet his God in peace. He was for several years a member of the State Legislature of North Carolina, and also in the Convention in 1835. He has left a disconsolate widow and several children to mourn his loss, but their loss it is hoped is his infinite gain.
