ASHE, William S.; was born in Wilmington, North Carolina and was the son of John Baptiste Ashe; was a lawyer by profession; served in the State Legislature in 1846 and was re-elected in 1848; was a Representative in Congress from 1849 to 1853, serving on the Committee on Expenditures in the State Department. Was killed on a railroad, near Wilmington, in 1864
