FIRST FAMILIES IN ROBESON 1768-1774
The following lists contain the surnames of families who first settled in the Robeson area while it was still part of Bladen. It was drawn from tax lists contained in the Southern Historical Collection at UNC- Chapel Hill.
Many of the names are spelled phonetically but are generally recognizable. A great many of these families still reside in Robeson. For sake of convenience they are grouped into Whites and Indians as found in the original records. Editors note: "In that time period it was politically advantageous to be listed as a white. Most of these names are 100% Indian."
