William Hundley "Bill" Hoyle, 77, of 727 Vicksboro
Road, Henderson, died Sunday, June 27, 1999, at his home.
A native of Vance County,
he was the son of the late David Lee and Louise Harris Hoyle.
Mr. Hoyle graduated from N.C. State University in 1942, and from Northwestern University
Officers' Training School in 1943. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of
World War II, where he served from 1943 to 1945 as a Lieutenant
on the USS Mississippi, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.
From 1946 to 1951, he was a Tobacco Specialist with the Johnston
County Extension Service. He farmed
in Vance County
from 1951 to 1998, and was Supervisor of Sales for the Henderson
Tobacco Market for twenty-six years. He also served on the Board
of Directors of the Vance County
Farm Bureau.
A lifelong member of Carey Baptist Church, he was a former
Deacon and Choir member for many years.
Funeral services will be held Tues- day at 11:00 a.m. at
Carey Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. John Hackworth.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Cornelia Walker Hoyle; two daughters,
Nancy H. Jones, and Janet H. Stallings, and husband, Charles,
all of Henderson; two sisters, Marguerite H. Smith, of Henderson, and Grace H.
Barrett, of Wilmington; a brother, Arch C. Hoyle, of
Henderson; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Macy L. Hoyle, and
D. Leonidas Hoyle.
The family will receive friends at the home on 727 Vicksboro
Road.
