McIntosh County History
McIntosh County was created in 1883 from the southern half of Logan County. It was organized October 4, 1884.
It was named after Edward H. McIntosh, a member of the legislature at the time.
The county seat was originally Hoskins, but changed in 1888 after everything but the school in Hoskins, was moved three miles east to the new Soo Line Railroad townsite of Ashley.
