Erie County, Ohio
Father - Harlow Brooks – died August 20, 1850 – his 31st
birthday – G.A.R. member
Mother – Mary Brooks – died 1853
Socrates would have been an orphan
by the age of 6 when his mother passed on.
Would like to find information as to who raised him and his siblings.
Julia Brooks (Socrates sister)
married a WallaceW.Washburn; they had five children, with the last child being,
Luella Gertrude Washburn – born 1869/70, in Decatur,
Burt County, Nebraska.
Wallace W. Washburn died December 19, 1868.
Julia Brooks Washburn then married
Lafayette L. Aiken, born May 8, 1838
in Ohio, on January 19, 1872 in Burt
County, Nebraska.
Found Socrates and family was
living in Arizona Precinct, Burt County, Nebraska
on the 1900 census. Socrates was the
Assistant Marshall of that Census.
