Cass County is located in
the lower eastern section of the state. Its county
seat is Plattsmouth.
The
county was proclaimed in 1854 by acting Governor Cumming.
Cass County was named
in
honor of Lewis Cass, the son of Jonathan Cass, a Revoluntionary
Soldier.
