My grandmother Ida Mae Youngs (Frye) was born in
Crawford, March 5, 1886 as well as her sister, Fanny Rosette Youngs, born 26
April 1895. Their older sister Ethel Youngs was born at Fort Robinson April 3,
1891.
Their father Charles Youngs met Nancy Jane Rodgers while he was a soldier
stationed at Fort Robinson in 1890. They were married in Harrison, Nebraska on May 24/25,
1890.
They lived at the Fort for a year and then Charles was called to active
duty in 1891. Ethel was born during that time at the fort.
He spent five years in the army.
He saw action in the Wounded
Knee battle and other battles.
The family moved to eastern Nebraska and had
5 more children.
