    Struck By A Timber

     

    Young Woman at Fremont Receives Serious Injures

     

    Miss Cooper, a norman student, was painfully and probably seriously injured this morning by being struck by a falling timber.

     

    While passing the Biles block, on her way up town, a timber holding the awning on the west side of the building fell down; striking her on the chest, knocking her senseless.  She was carried into G. W. D. Reynold's office and a physician summoned.  It was sometime before she regained consciousness.  An examination showed that she was internally injured besides being badly bruised.  She was taken to her room at the dormitory and is suffering

    intense pain.

    Found Bathing Cap

    (Special to the Star)- Fremont, Neb., Aug 29 --

     

    The bathing cap worn by Miss Gertrude Armstead, the North Bend school teacher who was drowned while bathing in the Platte River Sunday afternoon was found about a half mile below the point where Miss Armstead perished by members of a searching party Monday afternoon.

     

    This is the only trace of the body, although a large force of riverman have been dragging the stream all day Monday and Tuesday.

    Train Hit Flagman

     

    Special to the Star - Fremont, Neb., Aug 29 --

     

    While flagging a number of vehicles at the Main street crossing of the Union Pacific Monday evening, William Ackerman, flagman, was struck and hurled several feet by No. 6, eastbound passenger.

     

    Mr. Ackerman was not seriously injured.

    Won Tennis Championship

     

    Fremont, Neb., Aug 29.,

     

    Miss Evelyn Johnson won the title of women's tennis champion when she defeated Miss Etha Belle Rogers in the final round by a score of 8-6, 6-3.

     

    Miss Johnson went through the tournament without the loss of a set.
