The following note was received from Marilyn Holzworth, a well-known genealogist from Cheyenne County, Kansas. I have Albert Nordyke in my file on the computer. The notice of his death was in the Cheyenne County Democrat of Dec 29, 1888, he was walking on the railroad track near Haigler, and from Dakota. His daughter was Mrs. James Ferrier, six miles east of Haigler--this is an abbreviated version--- He was in the Civil War Co. 18th Iowa Inf. Albert was born 21 Oct 1835, in New Vienna, Clinton, Ohio, and died 14 Dec 1888, near Haigler, NE where he is buried. His parents were Jesse Nordyke, and Lavinia Hunt. He was married to Mary Ann Elizabeth Fitch on 5 Jan 1857, she was born 15 June 1839, in Ohio, and died 29 Nov 1912. Her parents were Dioclesion Fitch and Sarah Alexander. Their children were (1.) Sarah Levinia Nordyke, born 21 Nov 1857 in Iowa, died 31 May 1938 in Pacific Grove, CA. She was married to James S. Ferrier on 18 July 1872. If you would like his dates, please let me know. His father's (also James), death was in the Cheyenne County Rustler Dec 29, 1888. One of their children was born in Dundy County, Mary Helen Ferrier, on 17 May 1887. (2) Martha C. One of the sources stated he was born in Haigler, but I don't believe he was, not in 1863! Several of their children were born in Cheyenne County.
