About seven miles northwest of Parks is a small 50 acre lake,
surrounded by cottonwood, pine and elm trees and shrubby and
wetland habitats. The hills around the area are covered by
shortgrass, sage and soapweed. Many species of magratory birds
stop by here in the spring and fall and the area is also used as a
breeding area for ducks, geese, herons and many shore birds like hawks,
killdeer, redwinged blackbirds, owls and various others.- There are no facilities at this lake.
Rock Creek State Fish Hatchery
Just up the road from the Rock Creek Recreation Area is the Fish Hatchery. The hatchery
has visiting hours when the gates are open. There are large cottonwoods and other trees, and
of course the hatchery ponds.
