Lines, Peachie Luvena (Edwards)

Obituary of Mrs. Forest Lines

Peachie Luvena Edwards, daughter of David and Elon Edwards, was born April 23, 1882, near Haddam, Washington county, Kansas, and departed this life September 12, 1925, at 4 p.m., at the age of 43 years, 4 months and 20 days.

When but a child of five years, she moved to Dundy county, Nebraska, where she spent the remainder of her life.

She was married to Forest E. Lines September 10th, 1902. This union was blessed with seven children, all of whom survive her – two sons Emery and Carno, five daughters, Mrs. Pearl Boyd, Misses Opal, Jewel (should be Jewell) and Garnet all of Hiawatha and Mrs. Ruby Groves of Deertrail, Colorado.

She was an affectionate wife and an indulgent mother. In the year 1903 she was baptised in the Christian church, later learning her duty more fully, united with the Church of Christ, where she remained faithful to the end.

After taking treatments from several doctors, it was decided to try radium treatments at Omaha where she went several times and every available means failed to bring her recovery. She then went to Rochester but all efforts failed. She was a patient sufferer for three years. Thru all her sickness she looked to her Savior on whom she leaned and as she went down through the dark valley and shadow of death, it was He who accompanied her. She did not have to go alone.

All of her children, husband, brother and sisters were at her bedside thru her last sickness and death. She leaves to mourn her loss besides her husband and seven children, one grandchild, Melba Boyd, two son-in-laws, two brothers and four sisters, one sister Mrs. Laura Wood having preceded her in death four years ago last March, together with other relatives and a host of friends who join in mourning her departure, but our sorrow is lightened by her faith. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Bro. L. S. Terry of Wauneta, Nebraska, conducted the funeral services at the Church of Christ at Hiawatha in the presence of a multitude of neighbors, friends and relatives.

She was laid to rest in the Hiawatha cemetery.

Dearest mother, thou hast left us,
Here thy loss we deeply feel,
But it’s God who has bereft us,
He can all our sorrows heal.
Yet again we hope to meet thee,
When the days of life are fled,
Then in Heaven with joy to greet thee,
Where no farewell tears are shed.
