James Stratton
Took out a government homestead in 1878.
For a time he lived
in a dugout on his claim and in 1880 built one of the first frame houses in the
county, hauling the lumber from Plum Creek, now known as Lexington.
Some of his
descendents live in Beaver City and other areas of NB.
Chauncy Inman
And his wife, Harriet Stratton, moved from Illinois in 1879
and took out a homestead three miles west of Beaver City.
Harriet was James
Stratton's sister. James and Harriet immigrated with their father and siblings
from England to Lake County, Illinois when they were
children.
