Junior Senior Banquet

The Junior-Senior Banquet was held in the basement of the Christian Church, April 15th.   A banquet is given each year in honor of the Seniors.

The decorations were carried out in Japanese style. Small Japanese parasols were used as place cards. Was Butterflies of many colors fluttered about the Japanese lanterns.

The table was decorated in Japanese style also. The small nut cups were made by the Juniors.

The Senior Class flower is the American Beauty Rose. To carry this out, the Juniors purchased one-cent pencils, put silver paint half way from the bottom. Crepe paper roses were made and pinned on the eraser, and green paper was wrapped to the silver. This made a very beautiful rose.

The walls of the basement were covered with a lattice work of old Rose and Grey, the senior class colors. From various heights over the lattice work hung large Wistaria blossoms. This was a very beautiful background for the various colors displayed by the young ladies dresses.

Everyone was seated in their places at the table and had picked up the menu cards. What was the trouble. The Seniors looked so queer. What was the matter? Oh, the menu cards. No one could read the menu cards. They were written in Japanese.

The toasts were as follows:

Welcome ...............Norma Roberts

Response................Bernard Longsinee

Loyalty..................Dean Brubaker

Adventure...............Glenva Martin

Noise.....................Nadine Meyers

Talent.....................Gemisca Ayars

Enthusiasm...............Mr. Stiers

Romance..................Mr. Coffey

Good-bye..................Greta Lewis

The waiters, Neva Martin, Shirley Gerber, Earl Stearns and Robert Sexton were dressed in Japanese clothing also.

A short program followed. The guests took part in a game in which each was given a small capsule, in which was a small slip of paper. On this was written a stunt. East individual had to perform the stunt described on his paper. This was a game enjoyed immensely by all.

AT a late hour the guests began to depart for their homes and the banquet was over but not forgotten.
