Sophomore Class Prophesy

“Happy” enrolled as a first grader in 1920. Perhaps it will be necessary to say just who the above mentioned “Happy” is. His real name is Floyd Meyers.

Then the artificially waved hair of Boyne May began to take it's place in ranks. The in the fall of some year; New York produced a greenhorn, Frankie Watson. When in the grammar room, our first basket ball champion joined us. Then Shorty's little brother, Floyd Longsine, joined the same year, being so bashful he didn't like to sing in front of the room.

The same year, John Sexton came wandering to school. Robert, his brother also came along.

The fall of 1930 brought our joy of being Freshmen. The girls still remember wearing the green bow around their ankles, and the boys wearing them around their necks.

Then Lucy Hamil, so much different from the rest, a cow-girl wearing her hair boy-bob, came to our school.

During the freshmen year Lucile Belford quit school so that the teachers could catch up.

Isla Mae Mackey, an excellent gum chewer, thought that Hendley wasn't big enough for her so she went to Wilsonville.

Earl Stearns, a bashful little barefoot boy also joined us.

Next came Zetta James, a sweet little country girl that was adored by every boy in high school.

Next Deb Brubaker came dragging his number tens up the steps and parked them among the freshmen.

Then Verna McKown, rather short but plenty wide otherwise, entered the freshmen class.

Winston Meyers came from Oregon just to get to go to school with the freshmen.
