Howell and Mary Ann Busse
Howell and Mary Ann Busse were married November 22, 1904
Howell and Mary Anne had four children:
Edwin Howell McGraw, born September 27, 1906 in Ord, Nebraska
Married Della Pauline Batchelor
Lloyd Marian McGraw born July 20, 1910 near Ord, Nebraska
Married Dorothy Frances Eiseley, then married Anne Unknown
Lois Enid McGraw born November 3, 1912 in Lincoln, Nebraska
Married William Robert Lee
Ralph Arthur McGraw born October 15, 1914
Married Babe Gilbert, then married Margaret Mary Scheer
In 1900 Howell is living with Jennie, Cal and Aunt Helen in Brownville, Nemaha County. By 1910 he is in Valley County and has been married 5 years. He has one child Edwin age 3.
Howell left the farm in Myra Valley, near Ord, and returned to Lincoln, Nebraska with his wife and 2 sons, Edwin and Lloyd, probably in the fall of 1910. He assumed management of his father's plumbing shop on 'O' Street in downtown Lincoln. The family lived on Poplar Street and the corner of Eleventh and Rose, this is the house where Lois was born. She was assisted into the world by Dr. Harriett McGraw.
Later, Howell moved his family into a new house that he had built on Poplar Street. Poplar Street no longer exists with that name and we don't know the new name. To identify the house, find one that has 2 small footprints (Edwin and Lloyd) in the cement walk to the rear door along with a date, probably 1913.
Probably late in 1913 or early 1914, Howell moved the family back to Ord, Nebraska. Where they lived while a set of farm buildings were built on the Myra Valley farm. During the building period, Howell acquired the necessary farm machinery, horses, etc. to start the farming year. Ralph was born on this farm 10/15/1914. This farm was sold and the family moved to the 160 acre farm in Greeley County, near Coatesfield and 8 miles southeast of Scotia, Nebraska.

The family lived on the Greeley County farm until it was sold to Delbert Keep in 1927. The decision to return to Wisconsin was made after much urging by Mary and her family. "Wisconsin where there were trees and it was green."
After a year or two, Delbert Keep vacated the farm. He had bought it with a very small down payment. Howell rented the farm during the Depression until about 1936 or 37 when he again sold it--this time to a man from St Paul, Nebraska. In August, 1927, Howell and Mary took a trip to Madison and made arrangements to purchase the house at 2273 East Washington Avenue. The latter part of August, the family, except Howell and Lloyd, were driven to Madison by Edwin, accompanied by his wife and son. Howell and Lloyd stayed behind for the sale of the farm animals and equipment.

Edwin McGraw who is attending school in Kearney surprised his parents Thanksgiving evening by bringing home a wife. The Young lady was Miss Della Bacheldor of Hendley, and the young couple were married at the brides home Nov. 8th. They are both students at the Kearney Normal. While we are not acquainted with the young bride we know she must be all right to have won the affection of so worthy a young man as Edwin. He has grown to young manhood in this vicinity, is a graduate of the Scotia high school, and taught a very successful school last year. His friends are numbered by his acquaintances and all join in wishing the newly weds health, happiness, and prosperity.
