Nuckolls
County was organized and held its first
elections on June 27, 1871.
This county
is located in the southern tier
of counties, west of the Missouri River.
It is bounded by Clay on the north,
Thayer on the east, the state of Kansas
on
the south and by Webster on the west.
It
was mapped out by the Territorial Legislature
of 1858, and was named
after
a wealthy firm of merchants doing business
in Nebraska City.
The county seat
is Nelson.
