Thayer County lies just north of the 40th north parallel; and west of the 6th Principal Meridian. Which makes it almost the geographical center of the United States.  It is about 100 miles west of the Missouri River, and is bounded on the north by Fillmore, east by Jefferson, south by the State of Kansas, and the west by Nuckolls.  The county seat is Hebron.
