Clara Turner
CARLSBAD — Direct burial for Clara Rose Turner, 74, of North Richard, will be 10 a.m. today at Carlsbad Cemetery with the Rev. Noel Kramer of St. Edward Catholic Church officiating.
Mrs. Turner died Sunday, May 14, 2000, at her home.
There will be no visitation.
West Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Clara Rose Turner was born Aug. 5, 1925, in Slaton, Texas, to Constance and Florentine Respondek. She was raised and educated in Lubbock, where she later worked as a waitress and cook in local restaurants. She moved to Carlsbad in 1960. She worked as a dietician at Carlsbad Medical Center. She was a Catholic.
Mrs. Turner is survived by a daughter, Barbara Taylor of Carrolton, Texas; and two sisters, Ann Soladay of Dallas, and Wanda Webb of La Place, La.
Catherine, Steve and Carly Knapp
EAGLE POINT, Ore. — Catherine “Cathy” Molinar Knapp, 41, of Eagle Point, Ore., and formerly of Carlsbad, died Friday, April 7, 2000, in a car accident. Also killed were her husband Steve, 45, and their daughter, Carly, 16.
Cathy Molinar Knapp was born in Carlsbad to former Carlsbad businessman A.J. and Anita Molinar.
She was employed as an executive chef. Her husband, Steve, was a logger. Their daughter, Carly, was a high school sophomore in Eagle Point.
Mrs. Knapp was preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny Molinar and Daniel Molinar.
Survivors include parents and grandparents, A.J. and Anita Molinar; son and brother, Juan, also injured in the accident but expected to survive; sister and aunt, Missy Quesada of Rio Rancho; and brothers and uncles, Victor Molinar of Austin, Texas, David Molinar of Tijeras and Atilano Molinar Jr.
Minnie Halbert
CARLSBAD — A funeral for Minnie Morgan Halbert, 102, of Vernon, Texas, will be at 1 p.m. CST today at First United Methodist Church Vernon with the Rev. Darrell Patterson officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Carlsbad Cemetery with the Rev. Keath Baskett of Epworth United Methodist Church officiating.
There will be no local visitation.
Mrs. Halbert died Monday, May 8, 2000, at a Vernon, Texas, hospital.

Minnie Morgan Halbert was born Saturday, June 19, 1897, to David Ferebee and Quinnie Middlebrook Ferebee. She was one of 10 children.
She married A.A. Halbert Dec. 20, 1944, in Carlsbad. He preceded her in death Dec. 30, 1970.
She was a graduate of Clarendon High School, Clarendon College and Denton Texas College for Women where she received her teaching certificate.
In 1998, she was honored at Clarendon College and designated queen of the celebration being the oldest living graduate. She taught school at Quail, Hedley and Claude, Texas. She was hired as bookkeeper for the lumber company in Vernon, later working for Coca-Cola Bottling Company.
In 1942, she moved to Roswell where she worked for Harris Grocery and Harris Dentist. In 1978, she retired and moved back to Vernon. 
Mrs. Halbert was a member of First United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday School for many years. She was also a member of Eastern Star, Business and Professional Women and a 25-year member of Daughters of the American Revolution.
Survivors include a sister, Lydia Belle Wilkinson of Vernon, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

Helen Buster
CARLSBAD — A funeral for Helen Buster, 69, of East Orchard Lane, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Sunset Church of Christ with Michael Joiner officiating. Interment will follow at Carlsbad Cemetery.
Mrs. Buster died Saturday, April 15, 2000, at Carlsbad Medical Center.

Helen Buster was born Sept. 24, 1930, to Jim and Ruby Mae Wilson in Hereford, Texas. At age 10, she moved to Carlsbad where she grew up.
She married Jim Buster on Aug. 6, 1971, in Albuquerque. He preceded her in death on May 9, 1986.
She enjoyed oil painting, made sculptured dolls and loved animals.
Mrs. Buster was a member of Sunset Church of Christ.
Survivors include sons, Shane McGonagill and Sterling McGonagill of Carlsbad; daughters, Judy Bowman of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Charla Grice and Brenda Poe of Carlsbad; brothers, Bill Wilson of Denver and Bob Wilson of Carlsbad; sister, Nell McGonagill of Mansfield, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Steve McGonagill, Randy Wilson, Brad Grice, Michael Bowman Jr., Christopher Bowman and Terry Wilson.

CARLSBAD — Lawrence Evans, 90, of West Pierce Street, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999, at Carlsbad Medical Center.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation.

Michael R. Smith
CARLSBAD — Michael R. Smith, Aviation Electronics Technician Senior Chief Petty Officer, U.S. Navy Retired, was buried at sea with full Military Honors as per his wishes on March 27, 2000. 
Captain Kenneth R. Zimmerman, Commanding Officer, Naval Schools Command, NAS Pensacola, Fla., aboard Yard Patrol Vessel No. 702, presided over the ceremony.
In attendance were his wife, Deborah, daughters Samantha and Amber, and close friends Dave and Pat Smith and Anna Mary Zimmerman.

Dennis died Friday, April 7, 2000, at Carlsbad Medical Center.

Dennis Lawrence Bliss Jr. was stillborn April 7, 2000, in Carlsbad to Dennis Lawrence and Tonya Kincaid Bliss Sr.
He is survived by his parents of the family home; brothers, Ryan Ellis and Trey Troublefield of the family home; sister, Katelyn Troublefield of the family home; paternal grandparents, Gary Bliss of Kermit, Texas, and Ramona Fuller of Artesia; maternal grandparents, Norman Kincaid of Grove Spring, Mo., and Margaret Condon of Keota, Okla.; and paternal great-grandmothers, Ruby Bliss of Kermit, Texas, and Clarise Lattion of Artesia.
CARLSBAD — A funeral for James G. Mashaw, 74, of South Guadalupe Street, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Edwards Catholic Church with Father Noel Kramer and the Franciscan Friars officiating and Father Mauriss Hauser and Father Sebastian Cunningham assisting. Interment will follow at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park with honors by the Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard. 
Mr. Mashaw died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, at his home. 
He will lie in state today from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at Denton-Funchess Funeral Home. A vigil will take place today at 7 p.m. at St. Edwards Catholic Church.

James (Jim) George Mashaw was born on Saturday, May 16, 1925 in Paris, Ariz., to George and Rose Mashaw. The Mashaw family moved to Carlsbad in 1941. Jim graduated from Carlsbad High School in March of 1943 so that he could join the Navy and support the war effort.
He served on a Landing Craft Infantry vessel as a diesel mechanic in the South Pacific from 1943 to 1945. He met Helen Peters in Portland, Ore. on a blind date in 1944. They were married on Nov. 3, 1945, in Carlsbad.
After the war, Jim and Helen lived in Portland where the first of fourteen children was born. In 1947, Jim, Helen and Marie (Susie) moved to Carlsbad and Jim went to work for Price’s Creamery. In 1950 he went to work for Potash Company of America, where he retired from in 1987.
Jim was an active member of St. Edward’s Parish. His activities include parish council, St. Edward’s school board, lector, commentator and Eucharistic minister. He was awarded “Man of the Year” in 1973 for St. Edward’s Parish.
Jim was a member of the Knights of Columbus as a 3rd and 4th degree knight. He was a former District Deputy, Past Grand Knight, State Membership Director and held a multitude of other offices as well. He was chosen as District Family of the Year and had a 3rd and 4th Degree Exemplification named in honor of him for his past Knights of Columbus activities. He was a very active member until his health declined. 
He was also a member of Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. No. 1558. He was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader for many years and influenced many young men’s lives. 
Jim is survived by his wife Helen of the home, 14 children and 19 grandchildren — daughters Marie (Susie) Gravley, her husband Brad and their children Lindsay, Suzanne, Chris and Jennifer Gravley; Cathey Hoskinson, her husband Bob and their children Mary Helen and Robby Hoskinson; Christine (Teeny) Wolski and her son Kyle; and Francie Mashaw and her sons Jake and Kevin Farmer. He is also survived by sons, Tom Mashaw, his wife Mary and their children Michael, Jeffrey and Angela Mashaw; Mike Mashaw; Ed Mashaw and his wife Linda; Harold Mashaw, his wife Laura and their sons Ty and Adam Mashaw; George Mashaw and his wife Lela; Richard Mashaw; Pat Mashaw, his wife Rhonda and their children Austin and Amy Mashaw; Tony Mashaw, his wife Dawn Ella and their daughters, Keisha and Toi; Bob Mashaw and his son Quade; and Ray Mashaw and his wife Trish; a sister, Margaret Dickson and her husband Bob; a sister-in-law, Betty Jo Mashaw; and many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Rose Mashaw; two brothers, Tommy Mashaw and Bob Mashaw; and a sister, Virginia Bramwell.
Pallbearers are Tom Mashaw, Mike Mashaw, Ed Mashaw, Harold Mashaw, George Mashaw, Richard Mashaw, Pat Mashaw, Tony Mashaw, Bob Mashaw and Ray Mashaw.

CARLSBAD — A funeral for Maria “Lita” Ogas Elizondo, 106, of North Canal Street, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at San Jose Catholic Church with the Rev. Valentine Jankowski officiating. Interment will follow at Carlsbad Cemetery.
A vigil will be held at 7 p.m. today at San Jose Catholic Church.
Mrs. Elizondo died Saturday, May 6, 2000, at Lakeview Christian Home of the Southwest Inc., North Canal Unit.

Maria “Lita” Ogas Elizondo was born Wednesday, June 28, 1893, to Jose “Isabel” Ogas and Justa Lincoln Ogas in Santa Rosalia, Chihuahua, Mexico. 
She was the eldest of four children. She would have been 107 years old this year.
When she was five years old, her father died and left her mother to raise her. Her mother dreamed of bringing her children to the U.S. for a better life.
Mrs. Elizondo married Pascual Elizondo I. The couple was only married four years before Pascual died of influenza.
Maria had a daughter who died at birth and one son, Pascual Ogas Elizondo, who preceded her in death in 1999.
Her only son, Pascual, and his wife of 50 years, Olivia Ortega Elizondo, gave Maria 11 grandchildren. One grandson, Edwardo Ogas Elizondo, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Elizondo had lived in Carlsbad 101 years. She had been a member of San Jose Catholic Church for about 100 years.
Survivors include 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

CARLSBAD — A funeral for Claudine “Polly” Connally, 79, of Carlsbad, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Carlsbad with the Rev. Joe Wood officiating. Interment will follow at Carlsbad Cemetery.
Mrs. Connally died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, at Landsun Home in Carlsbad.

Claudine “Polly” Connally was born March 19, 1920, in Anthony, Kan.
She married A.R. “Bill” Connally.
Mrs. Connally had been a member of First United Methodist Church since 1938. She worked many years as the manager of the Montgomery Ward catalogue office and later sold furniture at several furniture stores before settling in at Skeens where she was employed until falling ill in April 1998.
She had been cared for by the Landsun staff since April.
Mrs. Connally was preceded in death by a brother, Roy W. Thomas of Amarillo, Texas; a sister, Louise Rippy of Whittier, Calif.; and her husband, A.R. “Bill” Connally.|
Survivors include a daughter, Dorine Sutton of Carlsbad; son, Bill Connally of York, Pa.; brother, John D. Thomas of Houston, Texas; three granddaughters; one grandson; two great-grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the church.
CARLSBAD — A funeral for Elva E. Patrick, 72, of Nelson Street, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at West Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Lewis of Lakewood Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park.
Mrs. Patrick died Thurday, May 11, 2000, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.

Elva E. Patrick was born Feb. 11, 1928, in Amsterdam, Ohio, to Alva E. and Mary E. Smyth McConnaughy. She was raised and educated in Ohio.
She met Alexander B. Patrick and they were married in 1948 in Maryland. In 1949, she and her husband moved to Artesia where they lived for three years before coming to Carlsbad in 1952.
Mrs. Patrick was a homemaker and mother. She attended First Presbyterian Church and enjoyed sewing and ceramics.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 14, 1967.
Survivors include sons, Alexander B. Patrick Jr. of Hilliard, Ohio, Marshall L. Patrick of Tucson and Tracy T. Patrick of Carlsbad; daughter Marianne Patrick of Carlsbad; brother, Harold McConnaghy of Massillon, Ohio; sisters, Dawn McConnaughy and Mary Valentine both of Toronto, Ohio; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Bruce Brannon, Paul Patrick, Matthew Patrick, Les Patrick, Roger Harris and James Lester. Honorary pallbearer is Jim Ed Paulk.

Virginia “Anita” Johnson was born April 16, 1924, in Lillian, Texas. She came to Carlsbad with her parents Mr. and Mrs. J.O. Price Sr. in 1940.
She was a former member of the Women of the Moose and was very active with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, C.T. Johnson, in 1979.
Survivors include sons, Roy Beeson and Houston Jurney of Carlsbad and Roy Gene Johnson of Farmington; daughter, LaVina Prouty of Carlsbad; brother, J.O. Price of Carlsbad; sister, Ola Mae Tidwell of Scurry, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

LOVING — A funeral mass for Domingo S. Granado, 78, of South 2nd Street, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Loving with the Rev. Valentine Jankowski of San Jose Catholic Church officiating. 
Interment will follow in the Loving Cemetery.
A vigil will be held at 7 p.m. today at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.
Mr. Granado died Monday, May 8, 2000, at his home.

Domingo S. Granado was born April 16, 1922, in Terlingua, Texas, to Gil and Lonjina Salmon Granado. He was raised in Texas and met his bride there. He married Fidela Valanzuela Sept. 13, 1942, in Alpine, Texas.
Mr. Granado worked in the silver mines in Study Butte, Texas, and for the railroad in Texas. He enlisted in the Navy Dec. 6, 1944, and was honorably discharged as a Seaman Second Class on March 14, 1946. After his discharge he and his family moved to Loving where he became employed with U.S. Borax for about 20 years. After the mine closed Mr. Granado was employed with Merryman Construction and N.M. Potash until his retirement.
He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.
Mr. Granado was preceded in death by a daughter, Maria Belia; brothers, Balbino, Mauro and Elojio Granado; and sisters, Santiaga Lopez, Antonia Vera, Julia Huerta, Maria Cadena, Manuela Granado and Rosa Garcia.
Survivors include his wife, Fidela Granado, of the family home; sons, Ernest V. Granado Sr., Adan V. Granado Sr. and Oscar V. Granado Sr. of Loving; daughter, Marie Corella of Los Angeles; brother, Genovebo Granado of Imperial, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Sonny Granado, Lawrence Granado, Anthony Granado, Oscar Granado, Ernie C. Granado and Jamie Granado.

Private graveside services are scheduled for Joshua Wilson Bolanos of 2100 W. Richardson #27.
Bolanos, an infant, was born prematurely and died on Nov. 25,1999 at Carlsbad Medical Center.
Pastor Abelardo Bolanos will officiate. Interment will follow at Woodbine Cemetery.
No visitation is scheduled.
Bolanos was the son of Wilson Bolanos and Elidia (Morales) Bolanos.
He is survived by grandparents Benny and Mindy Morales and Abelardo and Nidia Bolanos, all of Artesia; great-grandparents Enrique and Juanita Perez and Frutoso and Dominga Morales, all of Artesia, and Octavio Duque of Colombia, South America; aunts Erica Morales and Liliana Chavarria, both of Artesia; uncles Stephen Bolanos and Ray Chavarria, both of Artesia; and three cousins.

Services are scheduled at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001  at Denton-Funchess Funeral Home in Carlsbad for Christine Carter of Carlsbad.
Carter, 80, passed away Thursday at her home.
Services will be conducted by Pastor Leonard Foster with burial at Carlsbad Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Carter's grandsons.
Visitation began at noon today at Denton-Funchess Funeral Home.
Born July 27, 1940 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Roy Edward Smith and Johnnie Lou Harvick Smith, she married James Carl Carter in Wichita Falls.
Carter moved to Carlsbad in 1941 from Wichita Falls, and was a homemaker and babysitter whose hobbies included bingo and crocheting.
Survivors include sons, Jerry Donald Carter of Albuquerque and James Lee Carter of Mesquite, Texas; daughters, Jo Ann Anderson of Phoenix, Ariz, Betty Jean McCormick of Grand Prairie, Texas, Johnnie Sue McGee of Artesia and Patricia F. Dorman of Carlsbad, 23 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1987; son, Kenneth Ray Carter in 1994; and a grandson, Michael Dorman in 1991.

Janes, 63, died on Nov. 21,1999 at the Danville Care Center.

Visitation is from 1-4 p.m. today at West Funeral Home in Carlsbad.
Janes was born on Nov. 7, 1936, in Carlsbad to Johnathon William and Ruby Alvis Hudson Janes.
He was married to Sally F. Mitchell on Nov. 29, 1953, in Juarez, Mexico.
He worked at Carlsbad Caverns for Carlsbad Caverns Supply Company from 1954 to 1956, then was employed at U.S. Borax from 1956 to 1959, when he and his family moved to Tucson, Ariz.
He worked as an ironworker there, at St. Louis, Mo., and at Burlington, Iowa, where he was disabled in 1985.
He is survived by his wife, Sally F. Janes of Burlington; sons Randy G. Janes and Rickey D. Janes, both of Burlington; daughters Janie Mendoza of York, Ariz., Nila D. Carle of Keithsberg, Ill., Brenda Twylene Patrick of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Mallory D. Oliver of Danville; brother Jimmy R. Janes of Artesia; sisters Frances Gamel of Carlsbad and Cleone Spencer of Kerrville, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren

A memorial service is scheduled at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 8, at the West Funeral Home Chapel in Carlsbad for Lonnie L. Crow of Carlsbad.
Crow, 66, died Jan. 5 2001 at his home.
Services will be conducted by the Rev. Bob Bacon of First Baptist Church of Carlsbad and Dave Perini. Cremation has taken place.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dave Perini, Chris Trew, Mike Waygood, Danny Myers, Mike Brown, Jim Parker, C.M. Daniell, Ray Westall, Eddy Menzdorf, Doug Chandler and Gary Fletcher.
Born Sept. 14, 1934, in Plainview, Texas, to Lonnie L. Crow Sr. and Ida Mae Smith Crow, he married Jacqueline D'Ann Minick on Feb. 21, 1972, in Plains, Texas.
He moved to Carlsbad in 1950 at the age of 16. He was an undercover agent for the New Mexico State Police for three years, was a consultant in the oil industry for 12 years, worked as a mortician, owned his own oil field related business and worked as a salesman for Wilbanks Trucking in Artesia.
He was a former member of the Elks Lodge and was on the Jaycee's podium with Billy Graham and Richard Nixon.
Crow enjoyed playing bingo and hosting cookouts for many people, especially for the Carlsbad Cavemen. A cookout is planned for 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 8, at 2111 Sandyridge in Carlsbad, prior to the funeral services.
He was a lifelong member of Grady Baptist Church in Grady, N.M.
Survivors include his wife of the family home; mother Ida Mae Crow of Lovington; son Clifton E. Crow of Lubbock, Texas; daughters Diana Jean Crow of Arvada, Colo., Londa Lynn Lepp of Roswell, LaDonna Tweedy of Littleton, Colo., and Shawn Ballard of Carlsbad; brother Les Crow of Lovington; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Crow was preceded in death by his father, son Randall Joe Crow, three brothers and one sister.

Juan Arias Gonzales
CARLSBAD — Direct cremation has taken place for Juan Arias Gonzales, 57, of Roswell.
Mr. Gonzales died Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center in Roswell.
He is survived by a brother Alfonzo Gonzales of Artesia.

Graveside services for Martha "Katherine" Gunnels were held Monday at Carlsbad Cemetery with the Rev. Floyd Fisher, retired minister, officiating.
Gunnels, 72, of County Road 84-E, Pojoaque Pueblo, passed away April 20, 2001 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Santa Fe.
She was born Wednesday, June 27, 1928, to Herbert C. Eaker and Beulah L. Hadley Eaker in Minard, Texas. She grew up in Menard and spent most of her life between residences in West Texas and Artesia. She worked in an industrial laundry facility. She was known for her light-heartedness and sense of humor.
Survivors include: five sons, Herby White and wife Judy of Kentucky; George White of Florida; Porky Eaker and wife Sharon of Indiana; Elmer Eaker and wife Becky of Artesia; and Tommy Hooper and Annette of Pojoaque; four daughters, Marcel Tucker and husband Audie of Lubbock, Texas; Eralia White of Artesia; Centralia Graham and husband Buzzy of Lubbock; and Legetta Hammond and husband Mark of Artesia; one brother, Andrew Eaker of Jal; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Denton-Funchess Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Robert T. Evarts
CARLSBAD — Graveside services for Robert T. “Bob” Evarts, 70, of West Greene Street, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park with Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard officiating. There will be no visitation.
Cremation has taken place.
Mr. Evarts died Monday, Nov. 29, 1999, at his home.
Denton-Funchess Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Robert T. “Bob” Evarts was born Monday, Jan. 21, 1929, to Harold and Tresa Toholl Evarts in Carlsbad. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1946.
Mr. Evarts served 23 years in the U.S. Navy, retiring in 1969. After returning to Carlsbad, he worked in the oilfield and drove a taxi for McCabe Taxi for 16 years. The last five years he worked for Tumbleweed Travel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Anita Evarts Brown and Berta Irene Hardie; a stepson, Walter “Teddy” Baker; a sister-in-law, Ann McCabe; a niece, Ann Anneston; and a nephew, Dennis McCabe.
In addition to his extended family, he leaves cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.
Survivors include three stepdaughters, Jean Vinka and family, Susan Martin and family, and Ruth Sharp and family; three brothers-in-law, Al Hardie, Jerry McCabe and Wilbur McCabe; two nephews, Gene Burkeholder and family and Bob Hardie and family; five nieces, Jackie McCabe, Nancy Lotz and family, Patty Schenk and family, Janie Leonard and family and Ele Cox and family; cousins; and friends.

Jim L. Morrow, 62, a longtime resident of Alamogordo, died Tuesday, August 30, 2005, in Alamogordo.
Jim was born October 4, 1942 in Carlsbad to Leroy and Leola Agnes (Proctor) Morrow. He graduated from Abilene Christian University in 1965, and on August 6, 1965 married Linda Boyd. He began his ministry in Burlington, Colorado and Oakley, Kansas, serving until 1971. From 1971 until 1974 he and his wife Linda were missionaries in Tanzania, East Africa. In 1974 he returned to Carlsbad and served as assistant administrator of the Lakeview Christian Home until 1979. From 1979 until 1993 he served as minister of Cuba Avenue Church of Christ in Alamogordo. During this time, he and his wife also owned and operated Springcrest Draperies Center. In 1993 he became the minister at the Fox and Lake Church of Christ in Carlsbad  until returning to Alamogordo in 1998. Since then he has been a real estate broker at Remax in Alamogordo, continuing his ministry as an Elder at the Cuba Avenue Church of Christ. Jim was an active member of the Alamogordo Chamber of Commerce as a member of the Ambassadors Black Hats and the Retirement Committee. Many of his photographs were used in the Chamber of Commerce publications. He was also active as a police chaplain.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Linda Morrow of the family home; two daughters, Lisa Squires and her husband Stephen, and Lana Goodman and her husband Aaron, all of Las Cruces; a son Jim Irl Morrow and his wife Natayla of Ypsilanti, Michigan; six grandchildren, Mitch and Alexis Squires, Stephanie, Shelby and Sophie Goodman, and Cole Morrow, all of Las Cruces; his father Owen Morrow of Carlsbad; a brother Norman Morrow of St. Francis, Kansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Cuba Avenue Church of Christ with Richard Boyd and Norman Morrow officiating.
Cremation will follow and interment will be in Monte Vista Cemetery
