If you have information of Early Pioneer Veterans that are not listed on this page, please contact David Minton or Erny Long.

Pre-20th Century soldiers

With the ending of the Civil War and the opening of free land in America's Southwest former veterans became settlers of the area now known as Lea County.

The number of early pioneer veterans that settled, died and were buried in Lea County will never be known as famiies buried their loved one's on family homesteads, that for many were; dreams, sweat and tears as many early homesteaders lost their claims.

These are the early Veteran's that we have identified and documented. How many are in unmarked graves on the old homesteads, we will never know.
