Famariss Refinery Loading Rack

Built by Walter Famariss, Speedy Haines, Maurice Carroll and a few others.

The Famariss refinery was built from the scrap yards of Warren Petroleum and other plants in the area, as I was told.

The plant was built to use the liquid condensate that came from natural gas and made gasoline from it.

In 1975, the small plant located about 3 miles west of Monument, produced two grades of gasoline, diesel, Jp4 jet fuel and several other petroleum products.

The plant shutdown about 1980 when the new plant was built between Lovington and Hobbs, New Mexico.

The remnants of the plant were removed and the ground cleared in 2006.

Some of the plant personnel were: Bill Hart; Alva Pate; Bill Copeland; Wally Jackson; Curley Gallineau; Darrell New; John Joy; H.L.Cain; Bob Fischer; Rex Beard; Ernest Long

If you would like your name added to the list of plant workers, please email Erny.
